On this page I will be giving money saving ideas and tips for aspiring and practising artists. Just some ideas that have helped me save money and time.As an artist who works with acryics, for years I spent money on buying a variety of palettes and other impliments to paint from. These days I use an old dinner plate - simple and easy to clean off under the tap! Avoid blocking the drains- drain paint through an old strainer.
Painting in hot weather? Keep insects off your paint, brushes and canvas by adding a few drops of citronella to your water pot.
I always work with a large mirror behind my work. It shows up all the faults in my painting much better than anything else, especially perspective. I also use it if I am copying anything, I place both my picture and the original together and view them through the mirror. Then I can really see my mistakes!
I got this one from another artist and its a goodun. Instead of throwing those reject canvas paintings away, soak them in the bath overnight to get off the old paint. You can then start again fresh.
